Omitracks was supposed to do a firmware update to the entire USA to every truck that uses their device by midnight Nov 2.
That came and went with potentially a million or more units unable to function. Plus the data going back 8 days gone among other problems.
We are probably experiencing a once in my lifetime event that is truly epic. You find yourself a Keller Log Book right away before they all get sold out and build your last 8 days record. Then learn to use a basic telephone, pencil and paper with your dispatcher in the old Pre-computer days of trucking to keep moving. You might have to wait until morning to contact your dispatcher. Who probably will not be a position to help you much.
A whole USA worth of truckers are up the creek right now. I am getting sources everywhere breaking the net with posts such as yours.
We are as private people going to get food and fuel this hour before the shelves dry out in a few days if a few million truckers cannot move.

The system is back up, but you need to reboot the QC to reset everything.
Once you do, all past (certified) logs will be there. Except for the time in between. Submit the paper log to your company so they can adjust the QC logs accordingly. -
It is much like the 2000 computer BIOS problem, when older computers could not handle the rollover date.
But this time it was a global GPS update that caused the problem. -
(Well, I did speak to a Werner driver today who said many of their drivers refused to drive until it was fixed. But both he and I were rolling.)
I did paper logs today and delivered my load, and you should not be trying to cause a panic.
I have my QC back up just fine tonight, with all my logs intact. Except for today, which is covered by the paper log.Long FLD Thanks this. -
They're panicking so bad over in the Snow thread. They're eating apple pies, ice cream, and dog food.D.Tibbitt and Cattleman84 Thank this. -

I never kept track of state line miles, and sure wouldn't be flagging them in my log book. I put what is legally required in it and that is all.
I had pc miler for miles and ifta accepts short miles on it, so I had no need to keep up with it. -
I'm wondering how you flag state borders and miles on the log when you are driving.
Do you stop at the state line to write it down?
Do you have a pad and pen and write while you drive? -
Tx Countryboy, Moosetek13 and x1Heavy Thank this.

No body is panicking yet but there was a walmart reefer sleeping until morning and most of the meat shelves need restocking quite badly. Some products were out.
We'll see where this takes us as the morning develops. I always have a flaw of leaning towards the worst case scenario. And then falling back on the old pencil and paper to take care of it. Satellite was nice but they should have kept that simple like it was 30 years ago. Just dot matrix text only.D.Tibbitt and WesternPlains Thank this.
