So it did end up being the fuel pump after all ...must've burned out the pump when I ran it without diesel, at least that's what I was told. The diesel lubricants the fuel pump gears? ...well anyways I've decided to change the fuel pump with the help of my yard mechanic. So far I've taken the fuel filter housing and tomorrow will continue to remove the old fuel pump. Wish me luck fellas it's gonna be an adventure ...

Jesus, I needs me one of these new rigs. lol
Even with the new pump, you are still going to have a problem with it emptying one tank faster than the other, and it may get worse too. Does these new ones have vented tanks, that used to be the main culprit, and I suspect it has something to do with yours, it has to vent somewhere and one may be at least partially plugged.TRS Group and Tx Countryboy Thank this. -

Ok just a quick update ...it hasn't been that cold so after I decided to replace the fuel pump myself outside I'm at about 90% done here. Theres a really good guy named Francisco Amaya on YouTube with vidoes on basically anything that has to do with Freightliner Cascadias. After the first day I was really bummed out with my progress but the second day was great, got a lot done. The timing mark really thru me off and set me back a bit since I had no idea how to set it ...but I figured it out. Everything's back in place tomorrow I add the fluids and start her up. I hope I nailed this problem on the head ...don't want to be looking around everywhere trying the causes blindly. Hopefully everything works out tomorrow

The operation was a success ...the truck has survived! It turned on finally!! A ton of priming to get all the air out but I finally got it done. The batteries were drained and it took awhile to charge but once it was all charged the truck turned on like nothing. $1700 for the fuel pump, $300 for hoses, gaskets, fuel cap and fuel filter kits ...lost a week of work but the experience and accomplishment is well worth it. Hope everything goes well for my first post operation trip tomorrow ...126 miles 2 hrs 20 minutes to New Paris In ...wish me luck
