So I have my own truck, 07 International 9400i with a C15 and a 10-speed, I bought it cash so there's no financing on it. It has about 1.3 million miles, no rebuild, but still running strong. I spent a good chunk of money and my own time fixing it up. I mostly pull Amazon loads, and I know Amazon doesn't pay that well but when I get good runs I make the money I'm happy with. The thing is, the reason I stayed pulling Amazon is because their loads are pretty light - average about 10,000-15,000. So I'm not putting that much stress on the truck and especially the engine. I do not have my own trailer.
Aside from my bobtail insurance, I pay $1000 a month for cargo, + 25 / month for ELD. I have 5 years exp trucking, HazMat, Tanker, Doubles / tripples endorsements, mostly exp with Dry Van, Reefer (which I hate), doubles, Containers (also hate port work), and limited exp with flatbed (about 2 months overall)
There have been many weeks where I spent 2 days or more waiting for a load. Sure I know that many companies have slow weeks, but it seems to happen quite often with this company. There have been some problems with dispatch - I showed up an hour early for drop & hook, Amazon cancelled my pickup after 2 hours waiting for it, I had to "check-in" again for an empty, then I got blamed for "being late" even though I was waiting inside the terminal. Another time my dispatcher ####ed up and scheduled a pickup for which I would be physically unable to show up on time - pickup in 3 hours, takes 4.5 hours to drive there. I got blamed again. Another time they had me bobtail 160 miles for a pickup when that terminal was closed. After that I spent 2 days waiting only to bobtail back to my original location for a pickup. Also the company now implemented their own fines for out-of-service, tickets, and late fines.
So I want to know, which companies can I lease to that have light or at least not "heavy" loads (less than 35k), lower cargo insurance, and don't institute their own fines?
Help me switch companies

Do you want to find your own loads or have someone find them for you?
-
Either way I guess, but I don't have my own authority, so load boards are limited.

Landstar is book your own off in house board. Mercer is pretty much the same, but you have a adviser to give advice. Both have their own threads.
@Chinatown can fire off some more. -
I've heard good things about Landstar but I'm skeptical about signing up with major carriers since the drivers become just a number to the employees. Which logs do they use? I'm assuming the ones you can't edit?
I'm open to more suggestions -
With a 2007 truck starting next month you will not be able to edit anything.
