Started company side to feel them out. I have to say I really lile the people and that I can get someone on the phone day or night. Coming from companies that could take hours to get a hold of its a big difference.
They use keep trucking which is more sensitive than Qualcomm
They are very strict on incoming trucks. I think all three that came in when I did needed 1500+ in repairs done at an outside shop they recommend. I dont think that's a scam but all three needing at least 1 of not both shock was a little questionable. They do have their own small shop if it was about making money and the repair prices seemed more than fair where they sent the trucks.
I want to bring my truck on but the rates I've seen from company side make me worry. Granted I have a new guy for a dispatcher he swears average rates on truckloads (their preferred load board) are down. From what ive read rates are up 8% this year from last in van.
I'm also used to Landstars board which was upfront about pricing. Ive looked at Uber and JB hunt boards, since they do not have an inhouse board you can use any, and was not impressed by posted rates. Does anyone know of a board that is upfront about rates that posts more than the leftovers? I'm assuming that is the problem with JB hunt since I pulled a good bit of decent freight of theirs while with Landstar. Or does anyone know what a real average is for Truckstop or DAT, at least from what you're seeing?
I really want to bring my truck on with them but if the money is not on Truckstop or DAT I may have to look into Mercer, Landstar is no longer an option
The very best owner operator carrier, 90% pay!

What company is this?

I am thinking about going with MAG, has anyone recently leased on with them? how are the rates on the load boards for dry van? I'm pulling a tank now but the liquor business is taking a dive

Hegemeister and GYPSY65 Thank this.

Seems I looked in to Mag and they are just an MC number. You find your own freight on load boards
If that’s the case. I think I’d find a good company to lease on to
I’m leased on to a company but use a load board to fill in. Or help find a load when in tough areas but not sure I’d make 1/2 ( not really 1/2 ) of what I do now if I relied solely on the board as companies obviously have their direct customers. Those that you’d never see on a board -

They are great ppl, but they use Truckstop.com and they've been averaging 1.40-1.70 depending on the dispatcher from what I've seen. That's their company trucks. They claimed they were averaging 1.80 a couple months ago but I never saw it, granted I had an inexperienced dispatcher. Those rates are the total to the company truck, before you give up whatever percent. They will dispatch for you for a %. Personally id rather dispatch myself if that's what they're running for.
They do supplement with uber and Amazon relay and carrier 360 (jbbunt)
They have 1 broker that is kind of in-house but his freight is pretty mixed and in my opinion pretty low. $2 around GA and 1.50-1.60 elsewhere. Considering no one is taking 35% off the top of that it is low to me, coming from Landstar where 1.88 to the truck was the lowest I hauled.
Mc, insurance and fuel discounts, trailer if you need 7-8%, paid weekly, permit support. They will not do hazmat and essentially dont do liquor. -
ChicagoJohn Thanks this.
