They still don't have electric cars quite figured out enough for North America yet. Some of us live in pretty remote areas. They'd be fine if you lived in the city. Plus I'm curious how much driving range is lost while running the heater when its -35 outside.

As Norway has some cold temperatures and long distances it shows it is possible.

el. smart 4seat have about 110km in city with heating in average.
i was close to getting one recently, half year old, on 2year lease without any expenses related for leasing (open and close), 270€/month, no down payment. registration and all insurance 360€ per year. one service per year (130€), brakes and tires should last 2years, it is under warranty so no any possible surprises.
