Best way to get into oversize hauling??

I always enjoyed passing the Boeing steer car that they use for wing spars between their factories.

Fairly unique to have someone actually sitting below the load.

 

I was in the Carpenters in NJ. The old Local 620. Best paying part time job ever! (Part time cause of the lay-offs lol)

I left after I vested my pension. Moved to NC and did non union residential carpentry and painting for many years.
Got into trucking about 5 years ago. Was burned out on the construction grind...

some good suggestions so far. Take a look at Kivi Brothers. They are an open deck company that has a heavy haul division.

 

Oh yeah kivi bros runs nice trucks.

tbh I don’t see them running too much oversize but they do it for sure.

idk anything about them but I see them all over since I’m in mn as well.

they are about 20 minutes south of Duluth right on 35 by dry dock bar.

they also have a shop in blaine which is just north of Minneapolis.

I don’t know anything about them other than they have nice equipment and it’s far as hell from your house lol.

Hopefully you get the job working for the excavation company. You’ll be set once you learn to run all the equipment you’ll never be laid off hopefully.

 

Oh yeah, anyone can run equipment but it takes a long time to be an operator.

you can go to the school if you want or just learn on the job and get paid...

Cranes is good money that’s for sure. Those tower crane operators in New York are bringing in 300k.

 

Yeah, if you got a medical card though you can get certified on a crane. It’s the same guidelines.

to me a tower crane would suck. I don’t want to sit in a box for 15 hours.
