The Paccars were dirt cheap a few years ago , due to reliability.

They like em better out here in the oilfield than cummins.
They idle a lot loading & unloading
Cummins carbon up with all the idling.

The Paccars from 16-17 on up are pretty much a different engine than the earlier ones.

Tx Countryboy and whoopNride Thank this.

It’s a different design. Fuel system is different and a bunch of other stuff. If you look at my 2017 and then look at an older one they don’t look very much alike at all. The engines have always been built in house by Paccar ever since they were introduced in the states.

Seems like the general opinion on those engines did change. A few years back, you wouldn't get such a positive feedback.
And it takes a lot of effort to turn a sour face into a smile.

    Some of the
The earlier ones were built by cummins.
Although the engines will be built by Cummins, they will be badged as Paccar engines,

I've heard this a while ago, but can't confirm.

Even then, "built" might not be the right wording, assembled might be more correct. Those engines did exist a long time before they came to North America.
