The MX13 was built off the DAF engine that’s been available in Europe, that’s why so many were confident in the early version. Turns out that trying to adapt the existing design to meet US emissions turned the into a turd. From 16/17 on it’s a different design than the originals and it’s more reliable than before. Since their availability to the US market they have been manufactured at the Paccar facility in Mississippi.

edit: The engine plant was completed before the MX13 was available here. On the Paccar website it says they broke ground for the facility in July 2007.

    2001 story.
Cummins is expected to announce, perhaps as early as Monday, that it has reached a long-term agreement to supply engines to truck maker PaccarInc. Cummins is expected to provide heavy-duty engines to Paccar, maker of Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks

Yeah, their own. Cummins had zero to do with the MX13.

Although the engines will be built by Cummins, they will be badged asPaccar engines, effectively giving the truckmaker its own label and a more vertically branded powertrain.

Then either Cummins is stupid for building something that takes away market share from their own product or Paccar is stupid for spending $400 million on a plant when they had someone putting them together already.

Heartland for years had bought Trucks, with a guaranteed buy back plan @350k. Like someone mentioned, probably got a different deal on those, and taking advantage of new depreciation rules.
