Greetings, /
Long time listener, first time poster here.
I have the following on my MVR and was wondering what the gang thinks my odds are to get a job (with training as I am new to industry) with the following:
- I have an at fault single vehicle accident 3/29/19 where I fell asleep at the wheel and totaled my F350. I was injured pretty dog gone good as well, but all better now.
- I have a speeding ticket for 70 in a 55 that was lowered to 64 in a 55 on 5/29/15.
- Sometime in 2015 or 2016 I was the last vehicle in a multi-car pileup while travelling north of Kansas City. There was no damage to my vehicle or the vehicle in front of me, but technically I "rear ended" the guy. Again, this was a multiple car pile up, and I was the last vehicle. At the time I asked the gentleman that I tapped the back of if he minded if I went ahead and left because there was no damage. He said no problem. I left because I didn't want to hang out for several hours because the wreck was a doozy and I wasn't really involved, at least no damage on either of us. I am not even sure if it went on my record, but I did get a call that weekend from a Missouri state trooper asking me about the accident and why I didn't hang around. He was intially not pleased because he thought it suspicious, but after explaining no damage and asked others if they were ok with my leaving and no one objected. FWIW I was travelling from Iowa to Texas and didn't wish to lose several hours of my time as they sorted out the mess.
I presume the single vehicle at fault accident on 3/29, particularly the fact that the police report says I fell asleep, will be severely frowned upon. I saw on another thread that Swift says no preventable accidents in previous 12 mos.
Thank you in advance to all who will weigh in on this. Pun intended.
Would I be eligible for employment at typical trucking company with.....

Just to be clear, I do not have a hit and run on my record. I just tried to explain the incident, hoping that a "rear ender" collision might be looked at less harshly when there was zero damage. I am not sure if I even have an accident on my record from that incident, but lets go ahead and assume that I do.

I did get a copy of my driving record and there is nothing on it, nothing at all. However, I am in Arkansas and it seems to only show what has happened in Arkansas. The falling asleep at the wheel occurred in Texas. The speeding ticket was in Iowa. The "rear end" was in Missouri. How do you get a 50 state driving record? Nothing shows on my Arkansas driving record. I have a copy of the crash report from Texas.
Also, I have a Class B CDL with Tanker and Haz Mat and have run a bobtail delivering propane locally winter before last here in Arkansas. That is a seasonal job around here so it only lasted for cold weather.
I have maintained DOT physical and have a current medical card.
My career intentions are to go OTR for one year and then try to get a local driving job, probably for the local tyson chicken plant.
Thanks again for all the responses!Last edited: Nov 24, 2019

Doubt the rear ender will show anywhere since no tickets were written.
The other two will show on a nationwide check, so list them. The speeding ticket is old so probably won't affect an application.
Trucking companies use a national database for tickets & wrecks.
Apply to a couple of companies and see what happens. If you're turned down, that should be explained and you'll know where to make corrections. Don't say you fell asleep, unless that's stated on your accident report.
You may have to wait until April 2020 to get 12 mos. ahead of the wreck, but try anyway. Some companies will waive that even if it's not on their website.
Do some online applications for a couple of companies and see what happens.
Here's a couple with online "short applications" -
