Thanks y’all!
I’m not afraid of crappy hours, hell the Army got hours out of my system lol.
I worked construction for a while before I went to the oilfield, and before I enlisted. They wanted me to get my CDL but wouldn’t pay more than $13/hr. Said I’d never find a driving job for more than that.
Heavy haul is the goal down the road so that’s not a terrible idea. The tanker guys down here seem to like it, so that would be cool too. Thanks @Chinatown for that heads up.
I guess I’m still trying to figure out what is going to work for me and what sounds too good to be true. Trial and error I guess. I don’t see a lot of drivers around here to ask questions, so this is my best bet with y’all. My buddy just went solo for TMC so he’s been selling them to me pretty heavy. -
There's more flatbed to choose from:
Howard Transportation
Maverick Transportation
Paul Transportation
R, E. West Transportation - lots of heavy haul/oversize.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -

Awesome, guess I’ll get to submitting applications, worse they can say is no right?
Chinatown Thanks this. -

That’s been something I’ve looked at also. I’ve seen everything from 1 year to 2 years. 2 years would be way better, but that goes without saying.
I always see the Schneider, Werner, and Trans America, and CRST trucks on the highways around here. But I imagine that’s due to the size of their fleets. Had a buddy drive for Schneider for a year and then went o/o. Another left Werner for Swift to do a Texas dedicated.
US Xpress has emailed me but we did a VTC with their recruiter and they said they start at 24 cpm.
I actually get several emails a day from a handful of companies, it’s just sorting out what might be right for me at this point. I’ve heard recruiters are just like military recruiters so it’s been a what do I actually believe -
R. E. West Transportation has the GI Bill Program.
FlaSwampRat, BigDog Trucker and acMinion Thank this. -

Keim TS and Melton Truck Lines both use the GI Bill Program and both flatbed.
