Gotta love the wife. For the last 5 years I have been telling the wife that I would like to go get an AC unit for my bedroom. Each time I suggested it the wife would scoff me and tell me how wrong it was to go get one.

This last weekend we helped her sister move some 10 miles down the road. Her sister has purchased a house (bank loan) that has whole house airconditioning. So she had three window mount AC units up for grabs. Since none of the other family members wanted them I said I would take all three. I know next summer I can sell them at $50 ea. Tho one I will keep for myself. However, since I didnt pay for them, the wife now thinks it is a grand idea and wonders why I didnt get one earlier.

    LOL Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Lol no. Heat cycling is best. And it aint called "break" in for nothin. Load it down and run. If it don't break in the 1st 100mi, you're gtg.

Per my engine builder, "load it down and run the hell out of it".

I was going by the info I have known for tractors and the recently replaced lawn mower engine. Tho on the mower engine I was to only run it no higher than 1200 rpm and avoid any loads for the first 15 hours.

Freezing ran is just one step from snow. What if it did actually snow.

It is no longer a question of if it will snow.
The question is now how much snow.

Got down below freezing for a week or so last month, then warmed up and stayed above freezing.

I went out to start some fall pruning/tree butchery of the fruit trees yesterday. The first branch I cut I noticed blooms opening.

Great the trees are confused and think it's spring time.

Hope they go back to sleep as we get another week below freezing starting tonight.

Well I got parked this morning for my 10, go through my end of day ritual. Upon returning to my truck I checked my reefer. Was running and temps were good, but was showing a code... "Alternator not charging." Lovely!

So I sat up and watched it for a little while, and as expected it died in short order. At which time I dug out the jumper cables and attached them to the reefer and the truck, set the truck to idle and restarted the reefer. Then I took a few hour nap to wait for places to open.

Once my home mechanic got to work I called him and discussed the issue. And decided that if I could find the part within walking distance I would replace the alternator myself... No such luck.

So my mechanic found me a dealer 10 miles away. I called them and made arrangements to get in after my 10 is up. Provided they dont try to charge some ridiculous amount for labor I will let them change it. Which I sincerely hope is the case... Cause it looks like it could be a royal PITA to get the alternator out without removing half the other components inside the reefer unit housing.

Just another day in the life of a Professional Truck Driver... Lol
