Heck with it, the van shot wasnt a good angle, neither is this really. But it gets the idea across. 20190815_175219_20191126230010279.jpg

I like that. Looks like the Heavy Threes they run up in the Territories. Those guys get 1 truck to pull every kind of trailer known to man.

The biggest wheelbase trucks I’ve ever seen are the Bennett heavy haulers. These guys were on the wind farms pulling a 2+3+2 with these massive stretched out 4axle big house sleeper, then 8-10 ft of catwalk before you get to a long slide double lock 5th wheel slide.

Think ive seen something like that once or twice.

I feel it was well rounded set of specs on that truck though, bout as much as you need for things on the lighter end of the spectrum. But still room on the frame to add a 3rd drive if necassary.. L&N in phoenix is waiting for us to sell those, they get everything from our used equipment pool nearly.

Thats all about attitude and looks. Though it can help with weight distribution and ride. Not to mention less body roll due to lower roof.

Midroof, flattops etc condos it really does not matter. Generally midroof allows you to stand up in the sleeper for what it counts. Not everyone gets to choose the tractor they are issued.

You could get into places 13.6 trucks cannot sometimes and thats a bonus depending on whats on the deck.

My spouse had a bad habit of diving into a tiny eating place for some of that Cajun food along the Gulf Coast with our Semi. She likes it, what can I do? Well profuse apologies and extract that truck then I get to wait until she finished her meal and then call down the rain for a few minutes about getting a big rig into some of those places.

    Always something.

As I said..... A lot of trucks are stretched for functionality..... not all but a lot.

Many are stretched for looks. I’ve seen big sleepers replaced with smaller sleepers, all to gain a certain look without cutting the frame.

I’d say some of these trucks are owned by guys like me with their own authority. Adapt the truck to fit a certain trailer, but also use it for multiple trailers they own. I own 1 tractor but have a conestoga and a Loyboy.

I love my 388 with a 312”wheelbase. I pull tankers and the reason for the length is to get the bridge for 105,500gvw in Oregon.

You must be young. An 8'box IS normal to me and anything smaller is a toy, useless for real work. There once was a time when you had to special order an SWB Ford pickup.....
