When I got assigned that load, I asked "Can I roll in at 6:00am and pick it up since it's a pre-loaded trailer?" That would've allowed me to get a full night's sleep. I was told "No. Gotta be there at 3:00am to pick it up." Apparently they want a driver there to pick it up as soon as it's finished loading, and they will call up dispatch and make a big stink if the driver isn't there when they're done.

So I got there at 3:00am to pick it up, and it wasn't ready. It wasn't ready until 4:30.

    Apparently that's also pretty normal.

I like those loads that pick up or deliver that early since Im up between 2-3 am everyday normally and prefer to be on the road at 3am unless weather is bad or roads are shutdown. Lately I keep getting loaded late in the day so Im up at 3am playing games or laying there waiting to start my clock, drives me bonkers. I always ask the opposite if I can get moving by 3am if possible, lol!

While it’s not my norm, it is fairly easy to get up, make my coffee, and get rolling... and there are certain pros to running in Dark Mode, and I’ll sleep well tonight since I only got a handful of hours of sleep last night...
    :sleepy2:

I don’t mind driving into or out of the night hours, my frustration was more the back to back 10s... had I known that was the plan, I would have shut down earlier the night before and drove 4-6 hours the next day.

    but ya, communication... right? ;-)

    So who’s working this Thanksgiving?

Parked my load on the Wytheville Yard tonight... Steak and Salmon dinner, maybe a movie, and possibly a few adult beverages to follow... then rolling to Steubenville (or what ever town claims that Walmart DC) in the morning.

I have been assured they will then push me on to Columbus or back to Wytheville so I can fill out my hours and not have another low mileage day after that FedEx Load.

    Time will tell.

Hopefully they won’t send you to a food place so they can tell you they won’t load you because your trailer smells.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope everyone is where they need to be. If you’re on the road, thank you and be safe.
