I can't think of many things more cruel and unusual than putting someone on the back of a bike for a trip over an hour.

The back seat on my last bike was removable, and about the size of a large cell phone.

Good gear makes the difference. I've never once been so cold or wet that I regret riding. Can't always be 80 degrees and sunny, I'm prepared for whatever conditions I may encounter.

Yea? Well when I was 20 to 23 I'd ride from San Diego to Sacramento in a day to see the future ex wife #1.

And I gotta tell ya, I was a pretty hard mother ####er then.

During the winter there were a few times I'm certain I did permanent damage to my fingers. Several times would stop I was so cold, couldn't stand up strait for 15 minutes.

Several times get to her house and stand in front of the furnace and shiver for 45 minutes.

Like I said, we're talking about being at the PEAK of physical fitness and fairly impervious to pain.

There's also only two kinds of people that ride bikes

    1) The ones that have crashed.
    2) The ones that are going to crash.
