Cool story. You know that people also ride several thousands of miles every winter on snowmobiles in temperatures well below freezing? It's really not a big deal...if you're cold, you're not doing it right.

Yeah,,, i came out underprepared a time or two. Being a vegas rider i wasnt expecting 20degrees through jean an primm, nor at Yermo. Everything else was relativly warm, but my gloves were not heavy enough nor heated. So i took turns reaching down and putting them on the crank case for heat. Fortunately i was just laying chest on tank, so it was easy to accomplish.

Yea had several of those too. A good day trail riding is about 70 miles. Out of 4 us, only one didn't get a crippling injury ( my brother ). He did end up with a dislocated shoulder though.

Me - Broken back ( L2,L3 ) Broken left ankle, Shattered wtf smashed right ankle, fractured left hip
Brian - Impaled by tree branch, lived.
Scott ( Professional racer ) Bent his left knee back the wrong way like 90 degrees at the hill climb event at Jackson Hole.

So go ahead and tell me superman. Tell me how safe and care free it all is.

You seem angry. And afraid. But that's ok. You live your life, and I'll live mine. I'm aware of the risks and accept them.

People that are full of #### make me angry. As far as being afraid, I'd like for you to elaborate on that for me. I'm not that sharp.

Reminds me of the few times ive rode myself right into a monsoon. No cover anywhere. You just get to be wet, completely wet.

I dropped the wife off on US 30 about 18 years back...her jacket was all doing "Mary Poppins" and she wouldn't quit tugging, leaning, et al. Yeah, I went back, but still just dang. Some people are SO not good passengers on the bike. I sold the Harley, dang me. She talked me into it for kitchen counters, and.. well yeah. About to sell the Italian Marble and buy another bike, haha! (She's relegated to pedal bikes, snowmobiles, and jet'skis, btw....)

Just had to get home. It rains a lot there. Gotta go to work in the morning.

500 miles on a bike in a day is A LOT. Let alone consecutive days.

Taking a putt around the block, ummmm, yea.

Going to throw a word of understanding Dave's way here. I have an approx idea of the time Dave is talking about for the ride.

The cool stuff was not readily available at that time except through mail order and maybe the BMW MC dealers. If he did not have somebody coaching him on how to gear up and where to get it it would be challenging.

I knew about it cause I did some time in a Bike salvage yard and those guys actually ran from Cali to Alaska. They coached me on appropriate layers to carry in the saddle bags -- cause weather changes unexpectedly.
