We bought my nephew a 'fat cat' a few years back (well, helped him buy it) and the wife wanted the maiden voyage. Herself. Dumped it between two trees in my yard. Yep, nope. She can shift like a YKW.... just NO bikes (besides pedals) for her. I cruise around on my dirtbike(s) in the yard(s) often...here in the country, I've even taken it to the little local market a time or ten, in daylight.

The older I get, the more I miss my street bike. Son wants one too, but only a permit atm.. he's 15... LoL~! 2 months until 16, sucks to be me.

ps: I've purposely avoided all that needless banter, jsyk. I really like it here, and don't want this thread shut down. Been there, done that, through no fault of my own.

Be safe, bro~!! Bike or 18's under ya~!

When my daughter went out with someone, well that's a whole thread on it's own lmfao, but absolutely no motorcycles.

Someone wants to wind up on a ventilator with a feeding tube by their own choice, more power to them.

have I posted something you feel is inaccurate? you post how dangerous these activities are and give examples of injury and death and expect your fear to change my thinking. I accept the risks of my chosen activities, but I don't dwell on "what if".

    like "what if it snows?"

    guess what, it's gonna snow.

You still need to elaborate on my fears for me.

Why do you assume I'm trying to change your thinking? I don't assume you're trying to change mine.

But then again.....assumption is the mother of all #### ups.

We had kept cats in our old house a number of years. Once a year at thanksgiving the meowing starts when they detect the combination of brown gravy and turkey being baked.

I don't recommend feeding pets human food, but this is the one meal that they get to eat hearty and properly with their fangs and whiskers. It is self evident there is no harm done. Quite the opposite. Licking, grooming and sleeping it off on their backs.

    Once a year only.

My bike learning was pretty rustic put it that way.

A neighbor friend of a mutual friend said can you ride this #### thing? Had oh I don't know... 10 acres to go nuts in.

Managed to make it out and back but it was clear that I was not normally a motorcycle person, I did understand them in those days. By the end of that week I thought this would be quite enough of that. If I want to get hurt, it better with falling off my fuel tank steps or something around a big rig. Not these bikes. Particularly after she took a angle in the air. I managed to fix that but only just. Left him laying on his back laughing and rolling at how stupid I was.

Managed to get the wheels down on earth. HA see?! unfortunately the dirtbike suspension compressed fully and came back up knocking my nogging on the handle bar bracket in the middle until I saw stars and double for a while. Not HA. OW!

I don;t mind being a sissy. But it will take a awful lot of road rash before I get good on those things. Its not for me.

The OM has to sample anything I'm eating. Then she decides for herself if she wants some.

    LOVES bacon, fish, and chicken.

you seem to be hung up on the fear part, it's ok to be afraid of things that are beyond your control. you're very emphatic about raising the points of what could happen and providing examples. I choose not to fear what could possibly happen, believe me I've seen my fair share of tragedy. just gotta move on

We had a house sparrow that was abandoned for some years. Raised the #### thing on lunch meat. Crazy. We kept a supply of bird food for it but nope. Perch on the coffee mug and take a few sips in the morning. Then leave a small mess.

It lived a happy 5 years. But we wont be doing that again.

No, I rode a bike for 20 years. It's not what could possibly happen, it's what does happen.
But you go on assuming it won't happen to you.
