While you can pull the fuse, keep in mind that your QC will not function *at all* with it out. So if your company tries to query the QC and finds that it's not up and running, they may suspect you are messing with the truck. You'll also be missing out on any urgent messages/loads if you don't have alternate means to receive them.

There is also an onboard computer that controls the engine seperate from the QC. Try explaining how the engine time is off by days between the two when you bring your truck in for service.

Oh, and good luck keeping your job if you get caught.

thats right, I never mess with that, but from what I've heard its the #57 or #59 fuse (in a freightliner) I have a Volvo, I usually turn the truck off every 4 minutes (the QC will beep when its time) then just start it right back up, the qualcomm will not count it as idling.

Do you have TAS or something like that on your Volvo? If so, you can fiddle with the thermostat to keep the truck running and reduce stress on the starter.

Basically, you start the truck, leave the key on and switch on TAS. Then on the thermostat in the sleeper you adjust the set point to 68. When the QC beeps at you, simply adjust the set point to 85. After a few seconds the SIG OUT light will go off and your QC will read "NO RPM". Wait five seconds and then re-adjust your set point to 68. The SIG OUT light will come back on and so will the AC. The truck will not stop running and your idle time will not go up. Some drivers may see this as a pain in the ###, but it's an easy way to stay in the bunk and keep the truck cool without running up idle time. Works great when I'm sitting somewhere or the couple hours before bed.

The above method will also *reduce* your idle percentage if you happened to run it up somehow. It counts as engine time, but not idle time. You can actually see the percentage dropping. :)

Now I know not everyone has a system like this, but to those that do, it should help.

I do not have TAS in mine, I wish, by doing that it counts as "warming"
