SLT . I could only say bad things about them. They have cut rates so bad it has hurt many O/O and company drivers.
They do not care about safety or doing whats right.

As far as R&R goes I guess they are ok. Do not know much about them but the drivers I talk to don't complain about the company.
If you are looking for an A&E company stay away from SLT.

    mtdewr Thanks this.

R&R is an active participant in a race to the bottom, especially on North bound A&E.

We are all in the same race against SLT's cut throat rates. Too bad some companies think the way to go is push everyone else out with low rates.

Sorry but the name means nothing to me. Today at Milan ,TN a SLT driver did not know what a PSS load was. This Norton guy should teach his drivers a few things before they haul A&E. It puts everyone at risk.

Ok, years back there was a company called PST. They were out of Salt Lake City,Ut.
They had a van and flatbed division.
It was started by the father Merlin Norton.

Was a family run thing untill in house fighting.

I could go into more about the father, but this is about one son named Mike.

Any way Mike took over the flatbed side and moved to Linden,UT.

To many girl friends and a nose problem, plus low rates in some hauls led him to sell out to Tri State / Trism..

He then bought out Senn trucking and then sold it back to the orginal owners I believe.

Mike then fired up EFB, again. His father had the company years ago before he was forced out into McGill.
    EFB then sold to Trism.

Mike moved back west and bought or started Expressway in Az.

In Sept of 2002 he bought out SLT. They were based in Salt Lake City.

He has sold some shares in the companies, but he is the president.

He took the heavy haul side which is old Trism trls. and 3 people from the old days to run the heavy haul side.

They are also trying to get more of a foot hold in A/E market.

So anybody that has been trucking for awhile knows who Mike Norton is.

For the newbies there is your history lesson:biggrin_25515:

Yea I remember PST. They were all over the place at one time. Thanks for the history lesson. I guess his idea of getting into a market is to cut rates to the bone. The hell with safety.

Kelgar50 is right; SLT cut the rates bad. Suddenly we were in a rate war. Not very well liked by oher drivers. They cut our wages back alot.
R&R are a good co. for company drivers; good equipment. I have driven for them in the past several years as co. & O/O. I would recommend them.
