I am not selling here, but only giving many drivers an idea of a program that most companies allow you to use, and the log auditors love it because they do not have to "read" your handwritting.
This is only information for those of you who never heard of it and who likes computers. You keep your logs on a computer, so you just type everything in and you print it out and submit it to your company as long as they accept it! But the nice thing for you is that it will tell you when your 11 & 14 hour is up, it will do your total hours for you & it will do the re-cap for you.
DOT accepts it to, actually they tell you most of the time "ok I don't want to see your log book or they look to make sure you are keeping current. It has saved many drivers time/money. I hope this does not sound like I am selling it, I am only trying to get the drivers to use it so they don't make math errors!![]()
Just another easy tool for paper work on a driver who hates writting (Like me)

I downloaded a demo copy of "Drivers Daily Log" to check it out and I think it's a pretty neat program. The only drawback is having to print out a copy of your logs every day to keep a paper copy. But I guess a cheap printer to go with your laptop is no biggie.

What kind of printer will work if the truck gets cold,
wondering if anyone who has experience with them
in the upper Midwest could inform the rest of us? -
Yes get a cheap printer and once you get using it you will love it! I can't remember if I stated for owner operators it is great.
If you work for a company you might see if their name is on the list of "Companies that accept DDL" it says that on the right hand side I do believe on the home page. You will have to down load their log format, which you can find beside their name. Just call your log department and ask them on Monday! -
Yeah cause coudn't it be possible the ink will freeze? I don't know just guessing here -
I recommend DDL even if you only use it, like I did, to check you while doing your logs. It is so easy to mess up when trying to run a legal log. You'll know where you are at when you use this program............
Also, there are other threads here covering DDL aka Drivers Daily Log. An awesome program.chicadriver Thanks this. -
What would be ideal for DDL would be a system where you could email your company the logs from your trip in .pdf format.

Ok
some authorities have told me that a laser
printer is the only thing that will stand the
cold. I guess if you used the program and
copied to paper logs you wouldn't need a
1500 watt power supply to run the printer.
Ink jets don't survive freezing very well. -
I know they say you can e-mail your logs, but a driver did that one day and it did send his actual log. Now try investigating if you haven't, because the driver that sent them to me was not umm "credit worthy" he was kind of not all there and I don't talk about drivers, but this guy was not "all there" and I hope he has since retired because you guys are much safer on the road without him!
Check into it if you haven't though, you can e-mail. -
