'99 Volvo VNL Speedometer Issue

    You can tell if it is a grounding issue by doing a pin to pin resistance check on the cluster harness with a multimeter.

    Resistance on the ground wire for the cluster to chassis should be less than 5ohms.

    Amram,

    I will definitely do so. the To-Do list for this truck is growing, so once the pre-christmas work load drops off, we will park the truck with my father and go through it.

    Absolutely agree. We bought our 1999 VNL630 with 12.7 Detroit and 13 speed transmission and planning to keep it untill wheels fall off. The only concern is the amount of rust the frame had (truck came from CT). but we did our best to sand blast it and paint it. So it should last a while:) The speedo issue is aggravating - driving for hours with no cruise control is very tiring.

    Rain should give you a hint it is a wiring or bulk head connector problem.
