What does KLLM look for as far as job history. I called earlier and they pulled my app out of a huge stack and keyed everything in. Got a (tentative) scheduled orientation date of 8/18, pending work history results.
I've never had a job in the trucking industry, so what are they going to be looking for from my retail and cable jobs?

The recruiter (swear before god I can't call her name right now) called me and asked for the accident reports on an accident from a year back (in a company van...no fault assigned by reporting officer or company and I never got a copy of it anyway...) and one fender bender from five years ago (no clue where that one is).
I had just talked to her yesterday when she gave me the orientation date...she also said she would have to talk to the safety director about my termination from the same job where the accident happened...
should I be worried and start calling other companies that I applied for or... -

Still here but dog tired...
I have a dispatcher who is either showing me some love by giving me miles galore OR trying to kill me....I haven't quite figured out which one it is.
First was the run from Morrow, GA. to Ontario, CA.- delivered this last Wednesday morning at 5am. (32m d/h, 2165 loaded)
For this week:
Then came the run from Vernon (L.A.), CA. to Holley, NY (North of Rochester)- picked up last Wednesday morning at 10am and delivered Monday, 8/3 at 10:30am (68 d/h, 2600 loaded)
Now I have a load I picked up today...yesterday...whichever...8/3...in Niagara Falls, NY. going 918 miles south. (72m d/h). Delivers Wednesday morning at 9am.
So...lets see:
68 + 72 = 140 d/h
2600 + 918 =3518 loaded
3518 + 140 = 3658 total for the week
FLIP! No wonder I'm tired!
But if you are wondering whether you can get miles with this company...there is your answer. Last week was something like 2800 miles I think...
Love ya'll but...my God....I'm going to bed. I still have to blow out the last 600 for the week tomorrow...

Toad, glad to see your getting the miles, but sheesh! You can't spend the money if your DEAD!!!
I seem to be getting there, as my new dispatcher learns to trust me. I'm hoping to go a little more out west as I seem to be staying eastern. Everythings going OK here, learning alot on my own and always trying to get there early, and unloaded so I can get another. I know you need the sleep, but stay in touch. I'm in St. Louis and waiting to get loaded and head to Pennsylvania. Catch you later!

RoadToad did you get your truck through KLLM? Also do they help you get a truck?
-
I did get my truck through the company They have a lease program. I did have to put a thousand down but it has been well worth it. It is a 3yr lease, you can walk away at any time, and if you see it through to the end...you pay $1 and the truck is all yours. With the maintenance plan, repairs and preventative maint. are very easy. I'm totally digging it...

How is the hotel in Atl that they put us up in? Also, how should I dress for orientation?
