The way I see it as to how Landstar is set up is YOU are the 1 that can make it work or not. They won`t hold your hand for you and make the decisions about where you are going. They provide the tools to be able to make choices from their loadboards or agents. YOU are the CEO of your business and YOU make the decisions about what loads YOU will take and where YOU go. i don't have one, i'm planning on running a van. a least for a while until i learn the ropes! :biggrin_2552:not that i prefer a van but i know flat bed and step decks are down really bad. with a van (although cheap and crappy:biggrin_25516:) i feel i can at least keep it rolling!:biggrin_25525:(maybe). to tell you the truth i wish landstar had some tankers! but you can't have everything:biggrin_25512:. i feel there is generaly more van freight, so to me it seems like there would be more options. if all goes well i might buy a reefer(far in the future:biggrin_25526:) crazy i know, but with a reefer you can basicaly haul anything you can haul in a van plus the cold stuff!(again more options)
and yes i hate grocery warehouses as much as everyone!:biggrin_25510: but this is about surviving this economy, not about getting rich!:biggrin_2554: i'm not sure if the money of old will ever come back around! but lets all hope that it will improve. at least a little bit anyway.:biggrin_2552:
    thanks,

Yes they do if you go with thier plate. You pay for the plate but it is in LS name. I guess you know to buy your fuel in the high tax states and they will not be takeing any money out of your settlement. You can even have credit at the end of the year that goes against the cost of your plate.
