Then swift cant make up there mind,I talk to swift about a month ago and the lady said they are not hiring anyone from florida, not until maybe oct or nov, thats what I was told.May trucking does hire a lot of drivers from north florida area, but they only hire north of i4.Hey May trucking is a good company from what I read and heard.I think there training go's by how fast your learn not lake other companies where it 4-8 weeks. They may have change it but last time I check you only with a trainer until your ready to go on your own.

Yes, May is a good company for a starter company. Beats the heck out of Werner, CR England, Covanent, etc. You are out 2-3 weeks with a trainer then go solo. Starting pay is a little above the others as well. Slow trucks, but pretty new Pete's. Idle policy sucks but there are drawbacks to every company. It's a good company to get a couple of years experience and then move to green pastures.

They are strict on who they hire though...you have to be squeky clean. They don't have big recruiting classes...one to two people in an orientation a couple of times a month. Good luck...I know it's tough out there.

If it is true that they pay .30 cents per mile then it doesn't sound so bad. They don't seem to have the incentives that Con-way has, but beggars can't be choosers. Their pay is better than the pay my friend is receiving from Covenant.

What is their idling policy and why is it so bad?

Keep banging on them doors, my neighbor just got hired at Swift in ocala. He calls them everyday, they say they aren't hiring newbies. He drives down there a couple times a week. Last monday he got hired, and he left out with a trainer today.
The right place at the right time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in Palm Bay also. Check into Sage CDL training at Indian River Community College in Ft. Pierce.
Another from the area is going to Roadmaster that I believe is in Orlando. KH, correct me if I'm wrong on the location.

There are at least 3 schools in Orlando. Roadmasters, Mid florida tech and another that I can't recall.
