first of all i am sorry that all of you are getting the shaft from central, you are right jj its a good place to get your license get some experience and get the hell out. All i can say is that i am glad i got back into construction and that it has really picked back up around here, i get to be home with my family everyday and dont have to deal with all the issues of a lease or a bogus FM. To all those wanting to go to work for central dont just look at this thread, as informative and helpful as it has been, and i appologize for a bad attitude in the past towards anyone i might have offended, you really need to check all the threads and make sure u look at the one reporting a bad company as well. I guess what i am saying is dont go to central with one hand tied behind your back. I met some great people on here and wish all of you the best and i hope it all works out in the end.

When you get upgraded to solo driver for the company after training, do you get your choice of truck (such as, can you ask or tell Central which truck you would prefer driving), or do they simply issue the first available? Is there a way to get a desired type of truck? I've heard different truck manufacturers names being thrown around on here, but does anyone know of a complete list of trucks they may have (website exclaims they currently only have Volvo's)? Are the trucks relatively clean, and what do the trucks include (TV, fridge/cooler, bedding, power inverters)? How strict are they on Qualcomm & what are their policies regarding this? What about taking the truck for a wash on home time or doing anything at all with the truck on home time? Thanks!

You don't get a truck choice, Central will assign you a truck it may run OK and it might not.

Trucks for Company drivers are Volvo's and Pro-stars, New guys and Girls will get a Volvo or maybe an ex Lease truck until a Volvo becomes available.

Lease Trucks are Pro-stars, Peterbilts and Kenworths.

The truck comes with a Mattress you have to supply bedding and anything else you may want or need.

Some FMs like all messages sent early in the morning others give you until later in the morning it just depends on your FM.

Central do not pay for Truck washes, you can wash your truck in WVC or pay to have it washed at a truck stop.

You only way you get a choice of trucks is if you Lease and I don't recommend doing that!

Hi, Around 2006 and up, there maybe a few older ones!

Central are getting rid of the Volvo's and getting Pro-stars for Company drivers, but at the moment the Pro-stars are going to company drivers who have been with the company for over a year.

The school is fast paced and they teach you enough to pass your driving test!

Then hopefully you get a trainer who teaches you what you need to know! :yes2557:

Thanks for your reply! Very helpful! Are the Volvo's any particular model, like 670's, 880's..? :Trailer: I'd like to only be a company driver at first. Maybe a year or so, I'll decide differently. Ok, so are we required to wash at any particular washes? I wouldn't mind paying and doing it myself =) My home town has 3-4 different drive in car washes, the kind you get out and use the high pressure guns and soap brushes, with the selector on the walls of the stalls. 1-2 of them has an area for large semi's you can drive right under and do it yourself! Of course, they wouldn't mind me taking it up to the car wash on my home time, would they? :biggrin_2554:

What about fueling/hotels? Are we allowed only certain truck stops? And do they cover the costs of fueling/hotels? Thanks again, guys!
