Do you run in states where that matters? California, Connecticut, and Florida and the big sticklers from what I understand. New York, Tennessee (especially with long rgns and the Knoxville scale) and a few others also enforce a kpra law but you don’t hear much about it.

    No to CT and NY.
    CA some.
    TN and FL more
I normally stay GA up to VA and usually east of the Rockies.

I like the idea of a tandem, longer deck, and flip third. I've heard some states and routes require the flip to be down?
A 45T would suffice 99%of what I would want to haul. Maybe a 50-55 to give me room to grow.
The TK I like the most would give me 90k in 16'. I really dont see me ever wanting to haul more than that. I'd go with a 35 or 40 ton but I really dont want to make a habit of maxing out or overloading my equipment.
I considered a 2+1 with speeder I dont know enough to make that decision, so figured a tandem with a flip would give me that option later.
Company is on board, but they have reservations with a purchase this large, and rightfully so. They are used to van and reefer. So i spit balled an idea that they jumped on. We are going to rent a trailer for 3 months, so they can see the benefits. After they see the loads, revenue, and process, they will sign to have my trailer built or bought.

    A word of caution

if you do not spec the trailer for the axle configuration it may not/will not be rated for configuration you might want.

So if he doesn't get it built to run as 2+1 trying to run it that way would be pointless??

depends if you want to break it or not

the forces are totally different on the rear of the trailer for a closed 3 vs 2+1

They would reinforce the trailer differently

    same idea as going 3 + 1 vs 2+2

    cke and Kawinige01 Thank this.

it is very slow right now and rates are being squeezed especially in the 7/8 axle market. Lots of unqualified brokers pricing loads below cost and some guys hauling them ... hoping it picks up in spring

    cke and Kawinige01 Thank this.

Well down here all the guys who failed at running trucks became brokers. And if they run their brokerage company like their trucking company i can definitely see why that's happening.. do you still have the yellow trailer?
