I don't have room for a conventional apu so I was looking at putting a small yanmar 3cyl diesel and generator head in the passenger side toolbox of my Kenworth.

I just found out about kohler power systems units. Compact single cylinder units with ac compressor and alternator setup.

And they would fit on my truck.

Gas RV gensets burn about a gallon an hour. Idling a big bore diesel burns about a gallon an hour. Where is your savings? (assuming your rv genset isn't diesel)

Unfortunately there s no real way to mount this on a condo

Most of them do. There is one now that is propane. I am designing a hybrid battery/propane unit for my truck. more info here http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...wheelers/82129-increased-milage-apu-idea.html

only the big genies run that much fuel. there are allot of smaller more fuel efficient units.
plus your saving on the wear and tear on your motor. And if you have an EGR motor that is a considerable amount since 0 idle time is what keeps an egr motor running good

My idea... portable ac from walmart with a low btu rating >.> 300-400 bucks, Energystar versions pull around 600-900 watts, plug into inverter, exhause out the window, boom ac is done. Weighs between 20-60lbs, about the size of a small fridge.
