My 379 is 19 years old. It was maintained. I single handily changed out every single slack adjuster on the truck in one shot. Not one slack adjuster required a pry bar or heat. No cams were cut. I also pulled the tubes and swapped out bushings. I suppose the jerks that owned the truck before you never greased the tubes. When I grease the brakes, I grease until a little grease comes out the splines. That’s ludicrous that you have to cut your s cams off after 5 years man

I've owned the trucks and trailers since new, my T-800 is 19 years old as well and in being in the heavy haul biz all of our stuff is well maintained. off road mud, sand and salt, it is super corrosive and hard on gear. I can only recall one slack I was ever able to get off using the puller. the rest have to be cut off. the tubes are fine and still have grease in them, but the slacks are always seized on the s cams. one inch impact can't get them off using the puller, I've wrecked a few pullers by stripping out the threads. just the way it is here I guess.

Was anti-seize grease used? I watched some videos on YouTube where they recommended it.

Unless someone has been in our world, they won't understand. Even greasing once a week they don't exactly come off without persuasion.

So, if you get a warning it still goes on your record?

Depends on how one defines warning.
If it's on the CVSA inspection form, well there is no concept of warning. A violation is a violation.
Mostly when an LEO calls it a warning, it's still a violation on the inspection, but no citation that comes with a fine.
Now if it' a true warning with no CVSA inspection filled out then no, it does not go on one's record.

It’s a trick DOT officers use so the driver won’t feel bad. If you’re certain the officer is wrong about giving you a violation, I’ve been told by TVC and RoadLaw to request a citation. If they give you a violation and no citation, you cannot fight it.

Yeah supposed to use antisieze as per instructions but Even with new cam seals, grease can still make its way past and into the splines purging the antisieze

    PE_T Thanks this.
