Note: What I'm writing has nothing to do with Abilene in the aspect of administration. My story at this present time is about dealing with Knight Transportation and its breakdown department.
To answer your question @midwest Mac Daddy.. let me put this into the story of....."A Christmas Carol"
Let's begin with....
"The Ghost of Christmas Past" Part# 1.
I got home on the 18 to start my second week of vacation time including some home time. I called our regular breakdown number that now it no longer gives you any options of choosing who to speak with just one where you will be transfer over to "The Knight transportation Breakdown department".
After waiting nearly 0.45 minutes someone answer and I explain my situation with the truck..."My front heating system is not working while driving down the road;I'm turning into Frosty The Snowman"... I told them that Volvo was 0.05 minutes away and I ask if they will like for me to take the truck there? After a little while they said yes... them I ask for the "Case number or Ticket number and the person said just get there we don't give any numbers! .... I was surprised and only said OK!
I get to Volvo and spoke with the service person and she was puzzle and very surprised that she got a call from someone of Knight transportation requesting to have a truck fix but not leaving any case number or ect, ect.
"The Ghost of Christmas Present" Part#2
I called to see if I could pickup my truck thinking it would bee fix by now... (Wrong!). Since the day I left my truck to be repaired (6 Day's) The service manager has been calling multiple times the Knight Transportation break down department and they don't answer... She even send them an email with no answer either! (Also I have been calling Mr. Mark Rinehart and the numbers I have with no result). I called the Abilene shop at Richmond and ask to speak with Mr. Joe and he was not there. I told the person on the other side what was going on and he could not help me!
"The Ghost of Christmas Future" Part#3
I'm very upset with this new procedure!
Like I mentioned before, I'm home but can you imagine if you were to have the truck break down on you in the middle of an intersection? In the desert taking a load to Reno,NV or I-35 to Indianapolis?
I found out also that many driver's have been complaining about this situation! Yes many drivers have been going through this fiasco!
Like I said before...I'm very upset!
If this is what we can expect for the FUTURE... from the Knight Transportation Breakdown Department then I guess my days are numbered. I'm a very patient person but I don't tolerate nonsense!
I believe that "When someone needs help in a difficult situation, there should be an appropriate response".

Second and final stop on this load to MI was a tight PITA to get into, barely enough room to maneuver and had to set up just right to back through a garage door into the building to hit the dock. Helped this poor Iraqi driver that was inexperienced to get into the dock being he set up wrong and had his tandems back too far instead of all the way forward. I tried to explain to him he needed to slide his tandems all the way forward for more room but he didn't understand me I guess. On way out he was spinning out since there was a slope down into the building to the dock and I told him he needed to lock his differential in and didn't know what that was so I got up on his step and pointed to his switch for it. Nice guy, was extremely thankful for my help.

Got a reset in with this MI load and now deadhead to Groveport to grab a Fife load. Glad easy peasy run and back into docks, lol!

Had one interaction with Phoenix ... had to get two door hinges fixed on a trailer and had to call Phoenix... I kid you not, the phone calls and paperwork took longer than the actual repair.
Hoping it’s not the same department...
... but sounds like it will be...Silverdriver Thanks this. -

I was in a Volvo Dealership, after the “software fix” was supposed to be made available, I mentioned the issue to their Service guy, hoping to get it done at the same time... nope, he never heard of that issue and said it doesn’t even make sense... but he could have been keeping up appearances if Volvo doesn’t have the fix available yet... not wanting to confirm without a fix.
never know who to believe... or not believe.
I am now just assuming everyone is lying... lol -
Besides, I’ve found it’s better to just assume that everybody sucks. That you can be pleasantly surprised if it turns out somebody doesn’t.MidWest_MacDaddy, dwells40 and Lonesome Thank this.
