If I remember right, In a year of leasing, back in 2007, the truck made $250,000. I netted $40,000.

40,000 net in my second year of trucking 12 years ago was pretty good for me. ( This was as a lease operator) about 100,000 miles driven per year. Net is After fuel, truck payment, taxes, fees.

The numbers are all over the place. Expenses will vary for dry van, reefer, and flatbed operations. Some have new equipment, some have paid off equipment, some have very low interest loans, some can afford to pay everything in cash, some take a lot of time off, some are local, some are long haul, etc. All of these factors and many more will affect your profit. For “long haul reefer,” you can average a gross income of $5000-6000 weekly. On bad weeks, the gross can be in the 4000s. Very good weeks are in the 7000s. Gross is more predictable, but profit will be different for everyone.

I lived in my own truck for a few years. Now under my authority, I was told I needed a physical address. I’m paying $300 a month with no bills, but I wish I had no housing bills at all. That’s $3600 in the trash every year. I’m not sure how to solve this problem other than to buy an investment property. Hopefully within a couple years properties will lower in value.
