I did a search to see if there was already a topic for this, but the question wasn't the same as mine, therefore the responses didn't help me. Figured I'd ask and hope someone has input on it.

My husband and I are currently paying a $460 cellphone bill. I think that's pretty outrageous and since the bill has increasingly gotten bigger since he started driving six months ago, I can only assume it's going to get worse. He and I are thinking about getting a prepaid, or pay-as-you-go, cellphone that he will only use to call his company and shippers, since they're obviously not on Verizon's IN network. I was wondering if any of ya'll had to do this, or have any input on a what we could do?

Right now our Verizon plan is 1500 min for $99. Unlimited IN calling, plus night and weekends. My husband, myself, my mother, and brother are all on this plan, so we have to share those minutes. He uses most of them calling his company and shippers...sometimes getting put on hold for 30-40 mintues at a time. I figured we could save a few bucks on the 'out of network' calls and just get him something for work. That way we could write it off too, come tax time. What do ya'll think?

    Thanks!

Try Researching The Idea Of Communicating Via The Internet.

You Can Talk Through Certain Websites...i Havn't Checked It Out Much...but Google Talk Might Be A Good Place To Start...just Surf The Internet....but I Bet If You Both Use Internet Talking...you Could Probably Save A Pretty Penny. One Low Monthly Cost.

I have verizon with 4000 on peak hours and unlimited off peak and I know that this is available to everyone at $150 plus taxes bringing it to $161.00 each month. Do not think of using any other carriers as the reception will never be the same. (I tried many other carriers)

My suggestion would be to get a high minute plan from Verizon (I've tried the others and Verizon has given me the least amount of problems) that is used exclusively for business. I asked my accountant about having just one phone and splitting the cost. She recommended against that as its easier to do book keeping on personal and business.

You can do much better than $460 a month.

We have Sprints Family Fair and flexable plan,2500 mins.Free nights & weekends, after7:00 free mobil to mobil. If we go over those mins,Its 10.00 for every additional 100 mins.(we never have)
My son is added,so we have 3 phones. Its reception isn't bad.Its costing us 160.00 month.
My hubby calls shippers and recievers all the time,I'd hang up if they left me that long and call back later.Or would use the qualcomm when possible. I don't recommend using pre pay its more expensive per min.
As a side note in our area.We can mobil to mobil Nextel subscribers for free as well.(Sprint owns Nextel).

My mom went out a few years ago and got phones through Sprint for all of us in the family. That way she could always get ahold of us. There are five of us on the plan. We split 4000 day time minutes. Free nights after seven and free weekends. Also free sprint to sprint. The amount we pay every month is figured by how many minutes we use. I think the most I have paid is $75 for the month. When I was otr I think my highest daytime usage was 1500 minutes for one month.

if your paying $460 a month it would be cheaper with phone cards and pay phones. that is way too much money to spend for a cell phone.

Most, if not all, carriers have an unlimited use plan. Call up and speak to someone. They should be able to set you up with a plan that fits your needs.
