I used to serve yon dowjones printing in west desmoines. They cry for paper rolls like you wont believe. Now mine yon Bear Island down in Doswell VA usually next morning arrival where possible. Quite a run.

About 60 miles west of there is a beer distributor with kegs that need going to St Louis Busch now and then. I don';t know how far you wish to wander but it's something.

If you ever get laid off or something, look at YRC Holland in Des Moines.
Teamsters union benefits and local work.
Hope you're not ever faced with that, but this may be a good backup plan if it does.

As expected, Chinatown is on his game, but they aren't looking for another job. 1st, if it's not your main job, what's the fuss, remember, you are doing THEM the favor, not t'other way 'round, and 2, there's a reason dispatchers are picked on so much, they really aren't truck drivers ( lucky you if yours was one) and are easily distracted. My philosophy, no news is good news, they know how to contact you. If all else fails, a dozen of the gooiest freakin' donuts you can find, always set things right by me.

I’d wait and see how it goes after the holidays. Don’t sweat it right now because stuff will be messed up with them being on a Wednesday. If they keep giving you attitude the week after New Years then I’d say look for another part time job if you want one. There’s plenty of Ag stuff in that area and I’m sure someone could use an extra hand.

What nobody has picked up on, is the OP can't legally do what he has admitted to doing. If he is working somewhere else for compensation PRIOR to beginning his work trucking in the same day, he has to count his hours working at that job, before he even begins his shift. Even if he is working in a McDonalds, it's all the same, it doesn't matter what type of work he is doing. If he has a crash, or some other situation where there is an investigation, he is toast, and the company employing him, as well, if he is over hours for the day, or week...

Nothing outlaw about it. Ag commodities are exempt from hours of service for 150 miles radius of the load origin.

now now... all he has to do is log on duty hours with each and all employers to last duty status change past 8 days. The exemption of ag and 120 mile rule takes care of itself.

So in the end it really doesnt matter, hes exempt. Does not have to log a #### thing.
