I forgot, nothing really substantial though. I think we start getting detention after 6hrs, but won't get any for the first delay because the shipper "changed the appt time" even though I wasn't notified of it. Ya know, the typical bs response

I really think my overdue karma from cheating on my ex-fiancee is starting to rear it's ugly head. This stint is rapidly starting to feel like a disaster.
After getting married on the 7th, I started work again on the 10th. On the 15th, 2 days after washing my truck, I got hit by another truck in Texarkana. As of now I haven't heard anything from the insurance. On Wednesday the 18th I was delayed over 7 hours at a drop and hook pickup. On the following Thursday, the 19th, I was delayed at my next drop and hook pickup for over 5hrs. This delay caused me to pickup at my next shipper 1 day late, though I let my BOA know ahead of time and they amended my pickup time with customer service. The morning after on the 20th, my pickup was ready on time and delivered on time. My 2nd pickup of the day was more bs. I spent 4hrs at a live load pickup that normally should take no more than 1 hour because the factory didn't send enough product to the warehouse down the street. Thankfully because of the wide delivery window I made it to the consignee on time this morning. Today, I've come to South Carolina to pickup a drop and hook going to Indy, then I'll try to find a way home. I was told this load should have been ready to go yesterday on the 21st. The problem is, I've been here since 2pm, it's 4:30, and the load might actually be cancelled. And since there's nothing else out here within 100mi that goes to Indy, I might have to cancel my preassigned Indy - San Antonio run as well.
All I wanted to do was make it home in time to ring in the new year with my new wife. But to have 4/5 shippers delay me several hours with one potentially cancelling on me, makes me want to rip my hair out. Do these people have no shame? Do they wake up in the morning to their pathetic $11/hr jobs shuffling paper, hoping they can make an unlucky driver as miserable as they feel when they clock in?
I must have forgotten why I left the road and went to LTL in the first place. Even if bs hits the fan doing that job, I'm paid hourly and guaranteed to go home at the end of the day, not to mention weekends off and paid holidays off.
I'll stick it out for the next 3 years because I'm contractually obligated, but after this I'm done. I'll take the physical strain of unloading a pallet of too-big freight off a too-small liftgate over the mental strain of life on the road any day.Atlanta trucker, Upinsmoke and JOHNQPUBLIC Thank this. -

Problem was they had too many loads and not enough trailers to load. They prioritized loads scheduled before mine, so I had Schneider cancel it. They paid me for the cancelled load in addition to dropping them a free emptyUpinsmoke and Cabinover101 Thank this. -

For guys that moved from company driver to choice how long did it take? My choice recruiter said that they ask your dbl to complete a 20 item check list. My dbl said the only thing on mines was that I went over my 14 4 times in the past 6 months. They only want 3. My recruiter told me if that is the only thing they might still be willing to accept me.
Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
