I am winding my way off of the otr game. Ive used otr to see different places and eventually find the place i want to settle in at and ive been looking at places here in northern michigan. Could stay local here and still pull flatbed or turn it into a covered wagon and pull for one of these steel carriers up here. Something to get me home atleast for the weekend . I love otr but its becoming to the point where i am starting to miss having some free time to enjoy my hobbies. I never forget when i first started trucking, had an old hand tell me that when u stop having fun out here its time to get out of the otr game or u spend ur whole life driving in cirlces wondering where it all went. He had over 40 years experience pulling flatbed in all 48 states and something thats always stuck with me. and although i am still having a good time out here , those words he said is starting to sink in and make sense

And as for flatbed...I went out on the road with my dad when he did flatbed back in the early 90s...that is some real man stuff, and I wouldn't mess with my dad on his DEATHBED. Lol

Exactly. We all do our part in keeping the world going. No food without the reefer guys, no ups guy without you, nothing to drink without the beverage guys, without @D.Tibbitt there is no building to put all this #### in lol.

it is a crazy thing to wrap ur head around how much freight us drivers could haul over the years. I bet i hauled enough steel and lumber in the past 2 years to build an entire city. U guys probably haul enough food and soda and beer to feed everybody and party for the next 200 years in that city lol

When I was on the linehaul I would move about 44,000 cases of soda a night lol. 104 case pallets mostly 22 deep. Roughly half that in the wiggle wagons per trailer depending on what needed to go where. The food guys are what is nuts! 35' to a 53' floor to ceiling....not a job for those who are scared of work. Ever since my days in a package car to today those guys get the most respect from me because I've seen what they do. Lot of them dudes making 100kish a year and honestly I think they deserve more.

The only catch is they average 74 inches of snow up here each year LOL now i do enjoy snow but man that is a #### ton of snow . Im not sure my arizona bones could handle such a thing

Rent first. I got that thin blood like you and couldn't do Pennsylvania winter's anymore and am back in Florida. I never got used to it. The only thing I liked about the winters up there was hunting. Hunting up there meant gearing up in layers and getting ready to go out to maybe see a deer. Hunting here is a wife beater, sandals, a ar15, and shorts looking for hogs lol....I think @MACK E-6 could get into it lol.
