I couldn’t make it at Mercer? I did really well at Mercer. The numbers at Prime are way better than Mercer. I’ve also been an independent owner operator the last 20 years except for those 2 1/2 years at Mercer. So to say I focus only on the truck and not on the numbers doesn’t make any sense. Can’t help but notice you just simply stated a negative posting but didn’t provide a single example to support your statement. No help at all. And the truck note for a brand new truck is exactly the same as you would pay if you financed it at the bank. $900-$1000 per week is right on the money for a brand new truck paid off in three years.

I think you’re a bit confused. It’s their fuel surcharge that brings it down to $.90 per gallon. As an independent owner operator I pay about three dollars per gallon right now. If I go to Prime I’ll be paying about $.90 per gallon. I don’t see what you’re talking about when you say I’ll be screwed. My fuel costs are by far my biggest expense right now. Brother if you know a place where I can go and get fuel cheaper than $.90 per gallon then please let me know.

My fuel surcharge is .43 per mile. If I were to get 7 miles per gallon that means I'm getting $3.01 per gallon on just fuel surcharge. After my pump discount today I paid $2.11 per gallon. I'm making .90 for every gallon I pump.

That's why paying .90 per gallon is bad.

You’re telling me that you earn $ every time you fuel up? Prime only gives a measly .16 per mile fsc. Who is giving you .43 per mile fsc? I will call them Friday and fill out an application.

What I'm telling you is I get x amount of money added on a load for fuel. If I manage my fuel economy correctly and fuel at competitive prices, I can spend less, or equivalent to that x amount.

Its important to understand your numbers. If you dont understand, or think you understand and dont, you aren't making informed decisions.

.90 per gallon is a screw job. The truly successful guys know this. The math is easy, once you understand it.

Oh no brother. I understand the numbers just fine. You just quoted me $.46 per mile fuel surcharge. I’ve been an independent owner operator for the last 20 years and my fuel surcharges are usually under $.10 per gallon. That’s what I’m used to. So when a guy comes on this forum and tells me he’s making $.46 per mile fuel surcharge you have to understand why I view that with some skepticism. Hell, most company drivers are paid less than $.46 per mile. I’m not saying it’s not true but I will have to call and check it out for myself. But fuel surcharges have always been a way to rob Peter and pay Paul. The bottom line is how much a man is getting per mile for the linehaul. If that isn’t well over two dollars per mile with the fuel surcharge then it doesn’t matter. You still at ATS?

If you look at my numbers from my last thread you will see my loaded miles are 58,000 and change(I only get fsc on loaded miles). My fuel surcharge for the year is $26000 and change. That's around .44 for the year.
