I'd say somewhat similar. A few hills, then the water level route.

I’m going to the northwest, and I accidentally forgot to get on I-88 to test it out for the first time. There goes $77 in tolls. Hahaha.
Cabinover101 and bzinger Thank this. -
90 generally is a good road, they run full trailer doubles. And they do well in storms, tolls match fuel burn in my day.
On the other hand, I don't go for 90 every time. It depends on where the truck is going. I used to worry about what hills etc. But with the newer big horse engines hills are irrelevant. -
94 to 20 across indiana then jump on the ohtp at the Indiana ohio line .
Run that to exit 110 and go north on 4 to 2 east into Cleveland and 90 to 86/old 17 to bingo .
17 is a good road a couple hills and a very pretty drive ...not a lot of traffic either .
It can be a bastardo in the winter tho .Brettj3876, booley, JonJon78 and 2 others Thank this. -
88 has a lot of hills on it between Albany and Binghamton. Then on 86 from Binghamton to Bath its mostly flat, then once you pass Bath there s quite a few big hills until you get into PA, then it flattens out and ends in a sharp curve back to 90
booley, Cabinover101 and PE_T Thank this. -
I live a few miles from I 88 and have run from Albany to Binghamton thousands of times on it since the 1980s.
It’s a good road with a few hills but nothing drastic to worry about.
Heck even I 90 west out of Albany has a few good hills on it like Indian castle for that matter?
When I run west I prefer to take 88 to 86 over I 90 every time.Brettj3876, booley, PE_T and 1 other person Thank this. -
Watch out for the prics in oneonta opening that rest area looking at trucks,
Southern tier 86, good road but watch out for open rest areas with the green, all trucks must exit sign.....
Stick to the thruway PE trans......NY will butcher you alive on the southern tier if you don't know how to handle them guysbooley, Cabinover101, PE_T and 1 other person Thank this. -
It's like a step back in time and hard to believe you are in NY .Brettj3876, wis bang, booley and 5 others Thank this.
