    Ok. So nothing to worry about just need to turn them in until they get adjusted where I want them.
    I believe they may have been loose from the previous person changing them. This trailer was supposed to have been just bought (used granted) from a dealer 2ish weeks ago. I hadn't noticed anything out of place until today.

    Did I miss this before? Probably. The gap on the shoes relative to the drum was acceptable so I didnt look further. Lesson learned.

    Ever taken a load way out on Cape cod? You know how fun it is getting in and out of there with a truck? Pei is about the same, but the fun goes on for much longer cause the island is a lot bigger than Cape cod. And god help ya if you don't got big enough fuel tanks to get in and out.

    The more I think about it the more I believe the park brake spring is busted in those 2 cans. That's the only explanation I have as to why there is no resistance to inward movement of the pushrod when I adjust the brakes. The adjuster tightens all the way till it stops and the shoes are still not touching the drums. I cannot move the s cam/adjuster with my pry bar either. I can move the s cam with a pipe wrench though so I don't think they are binding/seized.

    I guess the only other thing I could check is to set the brakes and see if the rod still moves easily.

    I'm under the impression that it shouldn't move freely with the spring pushing against it. Brakes released or not.

    There should be nothing to resist inward movement of the pushrod. Your brakes are released, right? That park spring is taken completely out of the equation. My guess is either the light return spring in the service pot is busted or the cam is sticking/binding.

    I have a slack on my trailer that will do the same as yours. Same style slack. The slack adjuster is binding. Turn the adjuster in and out several times and see if it will get past the sticky spot till the brakes tighten up.
