There’s no governor on my truck, so through the states of AZ all the way to FL I averaged about 70-75mph whenever I could. I caught myself up at 80 a couple of times and had to ease back. When I was at Swift I think they had our trucks at like 59 or 60 I don’t remember but this was way different. I looked at my logs this morning. The first day I only drove 354 but all days after that I got between 590-679. The day I did 679 I had to use PC to find a spot to park. The problem I think is that my boss doesn’t give me a lot of time on these loads. 5 days seems like long enough to get from Stockton CA to Central Florida but I’m realizing it’s actually really difficult to do without driving all 11 hours everyday. I wish I could drive 8 1/2 a day but the load would have been late I think?

On a side note, I got a call yesterday from another company who found my resume on indeed. It’s trucking, but I would only run I-5 which sounds like a dream. Home on weekends they tell me. The problem is that I’m learning out here that you don’t make money unless this truck is moving. Would it still be possible to get the same miles I’m driving now ~2900 a week driving only one freeway through 3 states??

If you are much anywhere west of the Texas Panhandle and headed to the Gulf US 287 is the BEST route. I used it a lot. I will also admit it has been close to 8 years since I was last on that road. I would take one issue with your comment. It's more than "just" slowing down. Those towns along US 287 AND US 59 are taking advantage of hard speed limit changes that don't correspond with the area. I once saw a driver get stopped in a small town on US 59. Nothing but a sign. No narrowing of the road. Just a speed zone sign and a cop waiting. If you are not knowledgable of that area, "blink" and miss that sign with no outside changes in the topography YOU WILL get stopped! This is the classic speed trap. No driver should be stupid enough to go through the main business district of a town at 75 MPH. This is not where they get you! Pretty much anytime a driver (especially in a CMV) gets off an interstate highway in the US their chances of some negative contact with a cop increase.

This is why I will always advise if you advise another driver (even in a POV) to use a route like US 287 OR US 59 that's OK, but also let them know to be VERY careful with those small towns and those speed zones. I can't stress this point strongly enough! I used one example of a bad speed trap on US 287. Well at the crossroads of US 59 and US 84 you will find the small town of Tenaha Texas. I will just let this ARTICLE say it all! I was born in Lufkin Texas. I have family all over east Texas.

Google maps says from Stockton to Orlando is 41 hrs.
Why can't it be done in 5 days?

first day I lost half my hours waiting at the shipper. So really it was like 4 1/2. 41 hours is the estimated time of travel in a four wheeler. It doesn’t account for traffic or variable speed when you’re towing. My load was extremely heavy to the point where I had to scale and slide to move weight off the rear axles. I’ll give you the load I had and see if you can run it to plant city in 40 hours
