A lot of those defects are actually legitimate concerns.
Texas_hwy_287, bigblue19, omaharj and 1 other person Thank this. -

The 2 drivers who purchased cigars for dispatch were never reimbursed. -
I don't understand why drivers who are co workers or drivers outside of work all voice their issues of how they want some equipment upkeep and how the current state is unacceptable. When pulling into a truck stop, I sometimes wonder " why cant my companies trucks look as good as ones from other companies. Or why do I have to stammer during a DOT inspection as the officer starres at the dilapidated thing my company calls a truck ".
I recall having my dispatcher screaming over the radio not to bring a truck into the shop because by law the company will be obligated to fix it.
Then I see people on the back end others tell me I am just complaining.
I just need to know of companies where they have decent equipment so I wont have to give push back.snowlauncher Thanks this. -
So it never occurred to you to,
1 Refuse to drive an unsafe truck
2 File a grievance
3 Quit and get another job where the equipment is to your likingTexas_hwy_287, Aamcotrans, 074344 and 1 other person Thank this. -
you're the one that calls OSHA..?? may be the reason why you ain't very popular there, with anyone, and may be the reason YOU are getting crappy equipment.
you do not know for sure that the other drivers did not get reimbursed. they could have been given the money up front, or they maybe get time off with pay, again...a favor in return.
then you should have filed a grievance or 2, or 3, of course, that leads you to be low man in respect, good equipment, good runs, and favors when you want to call one in.
with his complaining, i'd fear he'd find things wrong any place else he goes to work at.
i think he must have wanted a day (or night off) and was denied, maybe due to his low position on the totem pole. doesn't take much for senior drivers (i was one myself), to mess with so-workers that are always complaining. he even admitted that only "about half" the pics he posted, were indeed ones that involved him. what were the others..??
in the repair (OOS) line at the shop..???
when i was at NEMF, at any location where they had a terminal, they had an OOS repair line..very easy to take picks of equipment that ain't going no where's...and "pretend" it's what's on the road.
he posted pics of "hazmat spills", claiming "nothing was being done"....how can he prove that? did he have first hand knowledge of the phone calls between the company, fire dept, insurance company???
again, i think not. much of what he "could have heard", was hearsay from some of his co-workers that KNOW he calls OSHA....and were messing with him...in other words, he's gullible...alds, Texas_hwy_287 and Lonesome Thank this. -
and mostly the same type of issues..??
sorry, unbelievable to me right now, he should have posted ONLY PICS of what involved him...alds and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
I worked in line haul mostly. then I switched to yard switcher. So i can attest to the haz spills. No emergency personnel was called out. As for the cigars, as i said the drivers themselves told me they weren't reimbursed. They did get a better truck here and there. I don't expect favors and was taught to not owe anyone anything.
@p608, i have refused to drive unsafe trucks and have been sent home before. I have filed grievances in the past.
As for #3, I will be leaving this company soon, that's why i posted pictures of defects online. Don't care what happens at this point between me and the company. I am at the end of my first week of my two week notice.
@buddy157, yes I am the one who calls osha. Company tells me safety is their #1 priority, there are signs posted all over the facility about how safety is the most important thing. Total blasphemy if you happen to take that seriously.
My union shop stewards are close friends with the management. Results after a grievance is filed take effect for approximately one month.
You are right I am complaining. While on the back end when I had a year and a half under my belt I was told I had no right.
As for the repair lines. I have seen trailers with red tags ripped out by the city division supervisors before I would get to the task of bringing the trailer to the shop. They never give an explanation other than " We don't have another trailer for the city to use, its up to the driver to have the final say it they will use the trailer or not ". So I guess they put it into service and hope the driver inspecting it doesn't notice.
As far as half of the trailers driven, half are mine. Some of the other photos are of trailers the company tasked me to make sets out of for line haul. in that respect about 25% are not mine. Why would it matter if they are mine or not? Same company different drivers same issues. Doesn't make them any less valid.
I have shown plenty of pictures of what is screwed up in the company. A few turned around and said " oh yeah? i have a whole snap chat of screwed up ". There we were comparing pictures.
