That is why we got the FL60 in ‘03. We had to make a fast decision. We were gonna originally wait one more year but the M2 had just come out as the replacement and we panicked. That thing was horrendous. Luckily we were still able to get the FL60 built even tho they were already pushing the M2. Haven't bought a medium duty Frieghtliner since.

yeah you moved good on that one then. Im surprised the M2 has lasted as long as it has. The interior sucks, the headlight housing is always prone to breaking since there is no splash guard behind them (i mean you can reach into the fender and push the headlight out the front if you tried hard enough) and then its nothing but cheap plastic and terrible styling. Oh and the speakers for the radio is trash lol. Sorry but the M2 is on my #### list. They gotta re do it. International finally updated the interior of their durastar or now known as the MV and its fantastic. Didnt do much on the out side other than getting rid of the smokers window and change the mirror a little. But The point is they did something new. I've then notice since the updated it, fleets and companies like Penske have been buying them up like crazy. You dont see too many brand new M2's on the road now and for a good reason.

Not to be a smart ### but why do so many people buy the wrong truck, then spend thousands trying to make it into something else? Just buy something that's already suitable to what you're doing and be done with it.

Agreed but sometimes you just can't buy what you need, for instance, I "NEED" 4 new cabovers, but yet, I CAN'T buy one?

read along and you'd see thats probably what Im going to do. I started out intending to buy a brand new truck. Only reason why I debated this was because a truck right down the street popped up that is a 1999 but is #### near brand new at 18K miles and is listed for 15% of the price of a new truck. So even if I were to spend 30K on stuff to bring it up to snuff, I would be in it for way less than a new truck. BUT after research and opinions from people here, Ive decided that It would probably be best to just stick with a new truck in the end.

    Just a thought or three.

Cummings 8.3 was available in fl50-90 as was 3126, as was a few others including dodge gassers.

Like every thing else freightliner, fl50-112 could be ordered with long wheelbase up to 300 inches.

lol I like how you think. I would love a cabover for my self. It would actually be more beneficial to me as I could probably put a 32' flat bed on a cab over as apposed to a 28' on a conventional.

Yes true but anyone who's read any of your threads knows you run a different kind of operation than anybody else. You innovate because the trucks and trailers you need don't exist on the market. Whereas the right equipment for most people already exists. They just think its cheaper buying a truck spec'd completely wrong and then going thru the headaches of swapping in different engines, transmissions, diffs, etc.

this is all true. Challenge is finding a good clean ready to roll for another 400K miles freightliner. like I said before. These trucks are TRUE works trucks. They get used and abused and then thrown away in the scrap yard. They aren't lasting classics like your petes, macks, KW's etc.... I was turned on by this one for its low miles and everything be right as it was from the day it rolled off the lot.
