I got the message this morning when I turned on my Sony Vaio....no more windows 7 support. I do have Norton tho, am I ok? I think I'll remove my online banking stuff

 

I run norton as well as a private VPN. Nothing gets between my key and the target webserver that possess that key for just a tunnel between the two of us. Not even the University gets to log that connection. They will know it's a tunnel session and also know very few people outside of IT who can do that.

What I do do is within 90 days of automatic renewal date, I change to manaul pay from within Norton's home site. That way they HAVE to wait a #### minute not sooner than the 90th day for the new renewal money. Three years ago they reached into my account and charged blatantly 2 months prior to anniversay end date and I think it was 120 dollars that did not exist yet for them. They forced me to halt 7 checks that were pending and forced me to tell 4 doctors to wait 4 more weeks and paid the bank about anohter 200 in fees total to clean up the damage. All because they cannot wait until the freaking 365th day to get their money. And if i dared to place the payment system on manual then I get buried in enough spam. To reconsider my entire relationship with them. 20 to 30 years don't mean a #### thing when they continue to blatantly rip money out of your account months ahead of renewal date. It makes them that much more stupid looking when it fails the banking draft request.

The customer service call goes something like this.

My renewal date is such and such is that right?

Yes but...

That means manually I pay your company on that date prior to my local midnight time, am I right?

Yes but...

You charged the card 60 plus days before I decided to renew the account manually regardless of my settings and directives on this account specifically banning auto pay anything? Explain that to me before you are replaced with another provider several of which I am providing careful thought to. What will you do (Norton) to fix this damage and then some so that we will continue to do business together?

Gold coins flow until I am buried in it so to speak from their groveling actions after that particularly frosty call. I must admit someone over there is not listening. We'll see what happens this year when I catch their bank draft trying to sneak out of a account that only has .10 cents inside of it until I have specifically scheduled a manual payment to Norton for the new year. Anything else just wont work and risks our entire relationship all together.

My banker is ready. I migrated everything from the account in which income is cleared and then held. Manually in the old school way I transfer just enough to a spending account for bills and another account for internet purchasing. Both of those accounts contain extremely explicit instructions from myself on what is and what is not possible For example if you hold ACH line for 500 or whatever and your account gets emptied that plus the ACH until it quits autopaying as a courtesy you have a problem; especially if the thief did it in sequence incuring a 40 dollar charge for each of the 20 plus possible charges. Thats about 800 dollars in fees due and demanded asap. If not balanced and also caught up on the other legit payments you have made by checks etc. in 60 days you will be frozen out of the American Banking and face prosecution and arrest for theft etc. If you have not already proven upfront to the exact penny what you were doing and when.

In other words online banking just died. There is only autodrafts for certain bills. While others are essentially eliminated. The security in my bank are a pack of wolves, I cannot hardly get to my own money without at least two phone calls challenging me is made out to the bank security.

Everything else is strictly cash. If there is no cash until next month? Then so be it. Other arrangements are made. Particularly with the medical billers who in two cases take 9 to 12 weeks to clear a paper check on my end. Its almost as if I have to go to Conway and hand them the cash freaking money and get a reciept it's the only way their bills are paid up front. Otherwise they drag so #### slowly on paper checks, it exposes two to three seperate accounts to a problem should there be one. So 2020 is not even out of Janurary and I made some moves in banking ending some things and migrating back to old style paper checks in others. Very little is electronic.

My electric company would like me to participate in a special form of billing where if I can turn down to 60 and sleep with windows open and no heat tonight to get the the end of month bill to say 9 dollars total due then so be it. I told them leave everything #### well alone. Levelized is plenty. Its creeping up a dollar per month anyway beause the costs of fuel has gone up into the Power plant. Everything from nuclear down to hydro dam to oil, nat gas and coal fired. I think there are 6 plants in our states using at least one form I listed above. Solar is the next thing they are working on. Focusing 10,000 mirrors against a special furnance up top of a tower that transfer a hell of alot of heat into a gigantic ovesized Stirling engine (Technology of heat transfer, at your house you drive 300 180 foot long copper pipe. Connect all of them to a stirling engine. Whatever the earth gave you in summer and winter are two different temperatures. Automatically reversing to chill your home or heat it as needed.

Many do not realize that tech was around about 1870 give or take 10 years.

You would think if you can achieve mini stirlings inside 18 wheelers in place of a battery riding on slot car like carbon rail skis feeding off a pair of common rail embedded into pavement to take power from the ones using regenerative braking downgrade to lift their loads up and over. Other benefits come into play such as heated pavement. You never need to plow anymore. There is alot of labs who are growing a set of clankers finally in the world of large heavy class 8 trucks and beyond.

However. The computer is a wondeful tool. You all have seen what I have done to applying that towards some very good trucking questions, such as that US33 west of Harrisonburg any good? (Hell no.) It's stacks of 10% downgrades folded back on themselves in places. A python would get massively drunk and totally lost trying to wriggle that route.

Yup Win 10 is still available if people want to get it for free. It is only slow at first as it is still installing stuff in the background. Tho it eventually does get better. Win 10 is free because it allows bloat ware. It wont install on the wifes computer with a 250G HD. I have to get a terrabyte for it to be happy.

I upgraded to Apple when they decided windows couldn’t work because of my piano software.

I use Total AV with my 3 Apple computers. Along with AV’s vpn.
Don’t use anything with my new HP laptop. Have it to only access Peoplenet’s site to correct my logs. It’s the only browser they allow?

 

So trying to head over Donner this morning before that white #### flies nope ELD says your not safe to drive yet.
