HI All
My CDL and Hazmat endorsement is about to expire in about 6 weeks. Im thinking about driving a dump truck. Would having a Hazmat endorsement help me get a job driving a dump truck? The finger printing costs 85.00 dollars now and didn't want to spend the money to renew the hazmat if it isn't gonna be needed.
Thanks
Do you need a Hazmat endorsement for class b dump truck driving?

What are going to haul, nuclear waste? Generally, no, dumps I don't think requires that. I never worried about it.
okiedokie, Chubby Fly and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
The closed I ever came to hauling haz was oil contaminated dirt. And an old fire station.
The dirt was out in the boonies and went through the port to a county landfill. 100 miles away.
The fire station was local to the landfill.
NO. you don't need the endorsement for dump work.
Only time I've used my haz endorsement. 30# cylinder from Manasses Va to Boise Id. 18 years ago. -
I've hauled things in dump trucks that SHOULD have been hazardous, like 5 tri-axle loads of dead chickens,,

you can always get it back in the future if you go back to another job.H827OUT Thanks this. -
Dont really need one

Keep it. You never know when you might get fed up with the company or find a honey pot paying job that requires it.
Itsbrokeagain, Chinatown, TankerP and 1 other person Thank this. -
I agree 100% with @McUzi. I often see dump trailers hauling hazmat.
What's $85 plus DMV cost of having it on your license? nothing really
Plus, having hazmat (plus other endorsements) may help you get a better job.
@Chinatown What's your opinion? -
I'd keep it; never know when you may have to change jobs or a good paying job becomes available and you can jump on it right then. I pulled reefers 18 years and kept my hazmat current and it paid for itself many times over, even pulling reefers.
McUzi and oldtrucker66 Thank this. -
To me, if an endorsement has a 5% chance of getting me a better paying job with better conditions and better benefits, its worth it. Luck is when opportunity meets preparedness. I wan't to be holding that ticket when my ship finally come sailing in. But that's just me.
