The Flying J in Lodi, CA displays the whole gamut.

Ran out of gas, RV broke down, car broke down...blah blah blah.

I did give in once. There was a lady going around with her adolescent daughter. I wouldn't have paid a minute's notice...but they had a puppy.

    The puppy got me.

I gave 'em my spare change bag. All nickels, dimes and pennies. Maybe 6 bucks in all.

Yeah, that was my 'ol lady and kid. She came back with $97.00 after 1 hour. I got some beer and cigs, filled the tank and off we went to the next truck stop. :biggrin_25525:

A mother and daughter team? How were they dressed? Sometimes I can tell from the way they are dressed, how clean they are (or lack thereof) and just a hunch whether or not it's a true scam or not.

She should have taken money instead of drugs that night from her customers.

Im just wondering is it illegal to lie and say you are homeless to get money?

I have a story. At the TA on the 167 mile marker on I-94 in Michigan. I stopped there once and there was a brotha roaming the parking lot going truck to truck claiming he was an " upcoming recording artist" and needed to sell his music. He had a few CDs in his hand with a black guy on the cover, wasn't sure if it was actually him or not. Told him I wasn't interested.

I pulled in there two weeks later and he was still there, he recognized me and didn't even approach my truck, thank God.

Even if he was being honest (yeah right) who tries to become the next Dr. Dre at a truck stop?:biggrin_25523:

I was in Toronto a few weeks back and I could not believe the number of panhandlers on the streets downtown. One women was sitting there with a big sign that said "please help, too ugly to turn tricks". I felt like telling that most of the lot lizzards were way uglier than her. I kept quiet though cause I didn't want to give her any ideas. I passed by this other spaced out looking dude that had a sign saying, "need money for weed". This world is a wierd place sometimes.

Yeah I can't believe what is out there anymore and the thing that is really jacked up is that they get away with it from people that feel sorry for them! I see it at every ramp here in Vegas and the news did a piece on it and the guy went around the corner and got in a mercedes....

Now why would dispatch lie to you like that, driver?:biggrin_25517: Or how about the companies that recruit out of the truckstops? Do they count as scams, with all their big miles, new equipment, and bigger paycheck promises?

Yeah, he's a jazz trumpet player. It's not my kind of music, but I bought the disc. It's actually pretty good.
