He's got a Series 60. I'm not familiar with those engines but the way I understood the thread the mains just get given an absolute torque value and no turns. He doesn't want to invest in a torque wrench so he wants to torque them to an arbitrary torque value plus an arbitrary number of flats to save a few bucks on a torque wrench that allegedly won't fit.

Its like that on all forums. I frequent a few heavy equipment related forums as well. There was one guy that needed a new joystick on a machine. Didn't want to pay the dealer to come out and do a calibration on it. Now you're not calibrating the physical joystick per se, you're telling the machine controller where the new joystick's zero and 100% values are. A couple other techs tried explaining it to him as well. The big danger being you might see functions moving by themselves. Well he comes back gloating that we're idiots and that you don't need a dealer to calibrate it etc. Really good for someone else in a similar position to read it and try it and accidently drive the machine into the side of their house or something.

Awhile back when everybody was active here, there was a discussion on when you all graduated from high school. I saved all that info from about 30 of you. I thought it was neat to see the talent from all ages of the members that participated in here. I got an idea how old most of you are. :D
