The Cypress Truck Lines recruiter said to me that my application looks good and a former Marine Captain would represent the company well and interact with customers professionally, and he offered me a job.

TMC is like, psssh, who cares, we need five years of your Schedule C's and you must show "X' amount of income. I dig those up and provide the last five years except for 2019 because I file in October.

Then they asked for a bunch of invoices or BOLs to prove I worked last year. I sent them the last six months of monthly statements from my main supplier.

This morning I got a "pre-adverse action" report, and apparently there's a discrepancy somewhere regarding dates I gave. I couldn't really tell from the report what the problem was, but I'm getting a little pissed off.

I've been at the same self-employed job for 25 years (not a job-hopper). I've got a perfect driving record going back at least 20 years. I have no misdemeanors or felonies, ever in my life. I've got a decent background showing what kind of person I am (Academy graduate and Marine officer). I mean, geez! If I had slept through high school and worked fast food all my life they'd be looking at me more favorably.

They act as if they think they're God's gift to flatbedding.

then you naturally pass over them...apply elsewhere's...then when you get hired, and you're on the road, and pass by a TMC truck, blast the air horn and give them a one finger salute.>????

of course, that driver will think you're nuts, and "just one of da guys out there".

And all for a low paying, cheap little job at TMC. A common (very common) carrier such as them would be easily replaced by just about any other company; including Knight, CFI, or Swift; exact same pay, exact same benefits, and exact same conditions. Plus, those other carriers don’t really give a rat’s behind about prior military service or not...other than to receive the nice little $10,000 kickback, per veteran, from the Feds for hiring those with prior military service.

I think that is for Post 9-11 G.I.bill. I’m too old for that. I could be wrong though.

An unusually intrusive or overly thorough investigation into your personal stuff.

    Usage example:

“The Gunny Sergeant went through my locker so thoroughly that I felt like I was getting an anal probe with an electron microscope.”
