Ya. This crop is in terrible condition right from the beginning. Light, ground up junk. There is going to be lots of bins going bad by summer. And when that happens guys start going in bins and getting killed. It's sad fact but true.
After falling off my trailer this summer and breaking my wrist. I started thinking how many times I've climbed bins in the middle of the night. I'm dumping hot, anywhere from 110 to 140 degrees in the bin. So the roof sweats, and drips off and freezes on anything it touches. My ladders will have an inch of ice on them all fall.
I bought a fall restraint harness finally. It takes a determined effort to take the time putting it on every time. But after having it the piece of mind is worth it.

I'm afraid we are gonna hear of bin accidents this year. Remember back in 09 when lots of high moisture crop got harvested and in 2010 it set the stage for record amount of entrapments and death?

You are on the right track to keeping yourself safe. I assume you will pass the farm on to your kids and we need to stay safe to do that. We are not getting any younger and when we do get hurt it takes long time to heal.

I used to do crazy stuff around here, but not anymore. Shortcuts will get you seriously injured or die.

@Rugerfan how are the kiddos doing? I'll bet they are growing up like weeds.
