Parking at the truck stop head first

Do you defend the nose-in drivers ?

  1. I pull nose-in myself

  2. No, they're idiots

  3. I dont care it doesn't affect me

It depends on the truck stoo layout. Some are laid out where you will not be blocking any other spaces when you nose in, but yet others seem to invite that late to the party driver to pull in behind you. Now you have to go wake him to get out.

My trailer now is 45ft. With my truck if I back up to the curb my nose is even with the average fleet truck backed up to the curb. Back when I pulled a 52ft spread with a long truck if I had to park at a truckstop I would find a spot and nose in. I’d always rather have someone clip the back of the trailer backing in than hit the front of my truck. You guys that hate the people that nose in need to understand that not everyone pulls a trailer with the tandems slid up while driving a 230” wheelbase truck. Some of us nose in to protect what we own.

    No problem.
I'm a very light sleeper, too.
Most times if I get awakened, that's it, I'm up, especially if it's daylight.
    I completely get it.

For the most part, I think the issue is over the "jutter-outters" with the tandems tucked.

I can see how other dimensions, like a spread, would alleviate that.
Those wouldn't even noticed, unless someone just wanted something to b*@!h about.

    Truckers wouldn't do that.

It's old school way of thinking. Never shut that thing off until you get back home.

Because if I idle and keep my a/c on the air goes through the cabin filter. If I open a window I have to smell the piss and crap from too lazy drivers.

You only need to have your hood hit once while you are sleeping comfortably, jump up in your undies, watch the other truck try to drive away, chase him down, and then have to deal with the aftermath before pulling nose in becomes mandatory. I'll back in if the spots next to me are straight backs but I protect my hood at all costs. Plus with reefers, unnecessary idling, air dryers popping constantly, or the millennial blasting his bad music choice or video game, how else are you supposed to rest peacefully. I try to avoid sleeping in truck stops as much as possible. Fuel and shower, about all they're good for.
