Not often enough and yes. Well the lock is easy to break off if it's a cheap lock. A better lock is simply a bit harder. I.E. have to cut the lock off vs. simply breaking it off.

Kyle G. and bzinger Thank this.

It depends there is a recent thread on a love’s having trailers towed.
Kingpin lock or glad hand lock is only for a honest thief.

in my earlier years of on the road, i never saw any trailer being towed. i think too back then, there wasn't as much a problem of it as there is nowadays.

Depends on how well the manager and/or security watch the yard. Yes, a trailer can be towed with a gladhand lock on it. Takes about 10 minutes to take the airline off and put a temp connection on.

Takes about ten seconds with a drill.

Same, those things can be cut off. I have seen a guy cut one off with mapp gas. Got it cherry hot and hit it with a large hammer, came right off.

I have only seen them take a wrench and move the airline. they always try to not damage the lines.

    062 Thanks this.

Drill the lock out and toss it. I can probably pick it faster than the time it takes to put a bit in the drill. Those locks aren’t complicated at all.
