If carriers did that it would shut down the economy of the nation. @Studebaker Hawk was also right. This also shows up in all the tracking that has started. Pretty soon drivers will have probes stuck up their rears just to crank up the engine.

I’ve read about some pretty major issues related to the Endurant and downsped drivetrains in general with the ISX/x15. As in total engine failure in some cases. The Eaton autos have always sucked in my eyes but to be fair they’ll never be on the level of Volvo/Mack and Freightliner who are able to design their engines and transmissions as essentially one unit. As far as I know Volvo won’t even offer a manual transmission mated to a Volvo engine period anymore. If you want a manual it has to be a Cummins engine

Well i put almost a year in on the autos. Was in the freightliner dt12 for about 8 months and then a 2020 kw t680 with the eaton for about 3 months. The dt12 was way better hands down but had alot of problems with it that would never happen in a manual. When it would get real cold , it wouldnt shift out of 7th gear first thing in the morning. It would leak air out of the top of it and make u fail the air test for pre trip. Had to get that fitting replaced and took 3 days+ to get fixed. And everyonce in awhile u would be driving along and the thing would glitch out and drop into neutral. Usually when u was trying to get down the hill. The manual is and will always be the inferior transmission in my opinion and i wont ever drive an auto again, it is one thing as a company driver and ur not footing the bill for repair but if u paying for equipment and the maintenace on it , i think u are better off running a manual , they will always be cheaper to fix and less things that can go wrong with it

    I don’t accept that.

I don’t consider the potential for people having to give up a bit of the instantaneous gratification they’ve become accustomed to a shutdown of the economy.

Every business on the face of the earth with a labor force on the payroll has a right both to have standards, and to expect their equipment to not get destroyed by the stupid people of the world.

I for one have no respect for those who suck at the job they might be paid the same wage as I to do and never will, and have zero problem letting know it.

Man!!!! I laughed so hard reading this!!!! You're right about those yard dogs...they are reckless!! I have even seen them drag trailers and the trailer brakes weren't all the way released. In fact, now that you mention that, I see why the tires on trailers have the parts of the tire that are worn down with no tread, or the brakes get out of adjustment

I respect that. I am hamstrung in a reply because to do so I would have to violate both a personel and a forum rule and discuss politics! So I will tip my hat and go terrorize this breakfast buffet I am looking at!

My father had what is now called the 88M MOS while serving in Germany and Ft Sam in Texas after he was wounded in Korea. He spent the rest of his working life driving trucks. He even spent some time moving house trailers and hauling lumber. He taught me how to drive on an old split shift Mack. My father as with most of his generation as well as the many before him did that job right. They were not perfect, I still violently get angry about how they abused "diet pills". I still think those pills even years after killed him. Back in the 60s and early 70s you hardly ever seen a tractors right side tore up as you do now. I always noticed small things like that over my final years on the road. My father had that effect on me. I could think to myself "Mike" you know that truck is safe. It's raining out, or snowing and cold, why do a pretrip? I then could hear my father as loud and clear as if he was actually sitting in that right seat. "Mike get your Butt out and inspect this truck". I have actually mouthed the words OK dad as I climbed out and done the inspection.
