costs around $2.5/hr to idle just for fuel.
there are 168hrs in a week.
lets assume you work a full 70 every week, there are still 98hrs of downtime.
With an otr driver running away from home all the time, running coolers, tv's, radio, etc, companies cannot expect drivers to not be comfortable during down or berth time.
The companies can either provide apu's, automatic idle, idle aire, or put you up in a room, or ####.
That being said idling when you are out fueling, or out of the truck is in most cases unacceptable.
Kkaiwren986, Ridgerunner665 and FriedTater Thank this. -

Anyone know how to drop off radar with a QCom ??
Got a bud running with one and he asked if I knew how to get around the GPS ?
The old units were pretty easy, these new ones track without having power to them. -
There's gotta be a way to wrap the radome with a material that can block satellite communications. Not sure what material you'll need for it, though. I'll see if I can find something.

The Qualcomm is easy to trick, at least in our trucks, you start it up, and after about 3 minutes it will beep, shut the truck off, then turn it back on, then continue, and you'll get your truck cooled down, its a pain, but it works
OR let it idle for 5-10 minutes, and your idle percentage will go up, then shut it off, and do the above, and your idle percentage will go down, and you can manage your percentage that way.
Sure its annoying, but you keep comfortable, and your company is happy cause the computer SAYS you arnt idling, but computers never tell the full story. After doing that for a while you might burn 3 gallons of gas and only show 5% idle, but they dont question it, they just look at the 5% and say "Wow you sure keep the idle low!"
I also idle when its under 20, its company policy to idle under 15 degrees
Also you can pull all the fuses you want, unless you disconnect the qualcomm from the cable itself, and stop it from sending, it has a built in battery and can still send updates every hour or whatever. They do complain when they're not getting any input -

Get caught and have something like that on your DAC and you may never drive again.
