this month had a strong start and that really helped. All it takes is one load to a location you maybe shouldn’t have gone and it can shoot you down for the month. This month, a lot of things fell in place and that usually doesn’t happen.

Today was really tough putting something together. There was a lot .98cpm and 1.00 a mile freight. I’m just not willing to do that. On “backhauls” I might drop down 1.28 but that’s my limit. I found a shorter run and a long to put together that will get my back in Kansas for 1.90 all miles and then get a load over there towards home to take care of a few things and start chipping away at February.

    Good for you!

How many days in a month are you away from home?

Brokers are crazy right now. They're wanting to pay $600-$1000 less than the 15 day average.

I’m usually off 4-8 days each month. I could be off more, but that’s not my goal right now.

that’s what I was running into. I’m going to be really Deep South in AL and that’s my problem. Everything out of there is right around 1.00 a mile. There were loads back to NJ, MD, and PA but even those were only paying 1.70s and it’s just not worth it. I got something put together, so it worked out. My guy at Merge is out today and I was on the phone for 4 hours today until I figured out a good plan.

Yep. I've found some good loads going to the South but the rates coming out are trash. The loads going down don't quite pay good enough for those rates coming out.
